Youth Speaker's Tournament
Youth Speaker's Tournament (YST) is a project promoted by the Youth Ministry Team in the Evangelism/Church Growth Team of the Louisiana Baptist Convention for youth in grades 10-12. A method of participation will be worked out for handicapped youth to fit their individual needs.
Purpose
The Speakers' Tournament is designed to stimulate growth toward Christian maturity by asking youth to think seriously about their Christian commitment. Participation in the tournament also assists youth in developing skill and confidence in expressing their commitment verbally.
Speakers in the tournament are judged on the composition and delivery of their speeches. Youth Speakers' Tournament demands serious time and effort, but the pay-off is tremendous. Youth grow spiritually when engaged in the research, study, prayer, and practice of preparing a speech.
Today's speakers will be ready to stand for Christ in their churches, at school, in their work places, and in their communities. They will develop the skills to articulate truth in a way that people will hear and can understand.
Meeting Times
Sunday evenings from 4:00 - 4:45 p.m. in Room 203.
