Sunday Night Thoughts

Sep 21, 2008

As I sit here watching the Cowboys beat up on the Packers, here are a few thoughts about this weekend...

  • I had a blast Friday night watching Stephen march with the Barbe band ... they sounded great and he didn't miss a step ... and the football team did pretty good too ...
  • It was so good to have a "normal" Sunday after three weeks of hurricanes and evacuations ...
  • Another baptism ... I never get tired of seeing people publicly declare their allegience to Jesus as their Savior and Lord
  • The Youth Ensemble was great ... that was one of my favorite songs!
  • I loved Jesus, Messiah ... I think its one of the best songs Chris Tomlin has done ... I've been humming it all day long!!!
  • I really appreciated what Jay shared about how our deacons and others helped so many after Hurricane Ike ... and we're just getting started
  • God's really been doing a number on me about discipleship and the Great Commission ... I'm praying I'm not the only one...
  • I so love my sweet wife - wasn't she a good sport today - but didn't that example blow you away - that it is possible to reach the entire world within a generation by obeying Jesus' words to "make disciples of all nations"
  • So good to see people responding during the invitation time ...
  • Loved meeting people that you are inviting to church ... love it - love it!
  • Love being pastoring FBC ... God has done so much healing and pruning over the last several years - I can't wait to see what God's preparing us for ...
  • Did you notice the people hanging around after service just talking and hanging out?
  • So cool this afternoon to be at the Barbe Baseball Banquet and watch Paul and the other players get their National Championship rings for being the most physicaly fit high school baseball team in the nation ... the ring must weigh about 1 lb ... I'm so jealous ... the Varsity also got their State Championship rings - 5th State title in the past 10 years ... WOW!
  • AND IN CONCLUSION ... just in case you didn't hear - the Tide is rising again!!! ALABAMA 49  ARKANSAS 14 ... and thanks LSU for knocking off Auburn and Tommy Tuberville!
